Financial sector leads market lower

SHARES in Dublin fell for a third consecutive day yesterday as profit-taking weighed on the index. The financial stocks led the market lower, leaving the ISEQ 69.56 points weaker at 6711.92.

AIB lost 15c to €17.65. Bank of Ireland gave up 42c to €13.33, while Anglo Irish Bank fell to €10.95. Irish Life and Permanent was also weaker, slipping 25c to €14.60.

Low cost airline Ryanair, planning to open new routes to Poland, dropped 21c to €6.60.
