A SETBACK to Ireland’s construction industry is the single biggest threat facing the economy, according to a recent Davy Stockbrokers’ report.

The report focuses on the construction sector and concludes that the risks are manageable.

“Building now amounts to 22% of GNP and 12% of employment in the economy. Construction activity has reached such high levels in both a historic and international context that a reversal in the sector looks to be the greatest threat to growth in the Irish economy over the next few years,” Davy states.
