Heinz sales rise over weak dollar

The world’s biggest ketchup maker Heinz said fiscal second-quarter earnings rose 3.9% as sales increased overseas, helped by a weaker US dollar.

Net income increased to $199 million, or 56 cents a share, from $191.5 million, or 54 cents, a year earlier. Sales climbed 5.2% to $2.2 billion, the company said yesterday.
