Banking sector leads market lower

SHARES in Dublin fell for a third consecutive day with little newsflow to boost the market. The ISEQ slipped 36.47 points to 6697.64 at the closing bell.

Banking sector leads market lower

The financial sector gave up 102.41 points overall with moderate volumes. AIB and Bank of Ireland both closed lower, down 13c and 17c respectively. A similar story in the second line left Anglo-Irish 5c lighter while Irish Life and Permanent was softer at €14.70.

In construction CRH finished 17c down on the previous day while Kingspan lost 32c to €10.35. Grafton Group and McInerney also ended the day weaker, down 7c and 18c respectively.
