John Lewis reports profits up by 22%

Retail partnership John Lewis unveiled a 22% rise in underlying profits yesterday.

Combined sales from John Lewis and Waitrose supermarkets lifted 6% to £2.5 billion in the six months to July 31, helping trading profits before pension costs to improve to £116 million.
