M&S issues job loss warning

London: Marks & Spencer yesterday warned up to 1,000 jobs could go following a review of its head office and financial services operations.

The high street giant said preliminary findings from the review suggested 500 jobs would be lost in the 2004/05 financial year with another 500 posts at risk in the following 12 months.

M&S employs around 5,000 people in head office and financial services work.
