Fitch affirm 'A' rating for Anglo

Fitch Ratings, the international rating agency, has affirmed Anglo Irish Bank's ratings at long-term "A", short-term "F1", individual "B" and support "3."

Fitch said the long-term, short-term and individual ratings reflect the bank's consistently strong performance and asset quality, as well as its success in its chosen markets.

"Anglo has achieved exceptional balance sheet and profit growth in the past 10 years, mainly via strong organic lending growth to medium-sized corporates, benefiting from the extraordinary growth in the Irish economy over the last decade and the sustained positive development of the UK property market," the ratings agency said.
