ISEQ closes up in late session rally

THE ISEQ index enjoyed a brief positive spell in the afternoon session to finish 10.28 points up at 5216.86.

Elan showed the most volatility, seeing the value of shares drop to 13.39, 21c weaker.

In the financials, AIB performed steadily to finish at 12.19, edging 9c. , Bank of Ireland closed at 10.65, up 3c. Anglo mirrored the trend to end 20c better on 14.15. The positive run on the back of the ECB’s stay on interest rates relieved pressure on the banks’ margins.
