Tender put out for disposal of meat

Dublin: The Department of Agriculture has put out EU-wide tender for the disposal of 172,000 tonnes of meat and bone meal.

Minister Joe Walsh told Fine Gael spokesman Billy Timmins in a written reply to a Dáil question that the closing date for the tender was November 28.

Mr Walsh said he had established an interdepartmental agency committee to examine options for the future disposal of meat and bone meal and its report will soon be before the Government.
