Bid to ban house stage payments

Fine Gael Seanad Enterprise, Trade and Employment spokesman Senator Paul Coghlan has called on the Government to accept his Private Members’ Bill that would outlaw stage payments for houses under construction.

The Kerry-based senator made his call following the publication of a report this week that claimed consumers were paying an extra €175 million each year because of stage payments.
