Country ‘held to ransom’

A SMALL proportion of the workforce is holding the country to ransom and halting essential services, Irish Hotels Federation (IHF) president Jim Murphy claimed yesterday.

He said he was concerned about the negative impact of recent industrial disputes on the image of the country abroad and the stability of essential services for citizens and businesses in Ireland.

Mr Murphy called on those involved to desist from placing barriers in the way of providing reliable services that will ultimately damage Irish commerce.
