Ryanair to expand in Poland

CALLING himself the biggest fool in Europe’s airline business, Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary announced plans yesterday to expand in Poland, a country that just one year ago he said nobody wanted to fly to.

“I have come here today to eat a lot of humble pie, as we say in Ireland, since I was the person who 12 months ago said “nobody wants to go to Poland - there isn’t anything there in Gdansk except a shipyard wall,” he said.

The Baltic port city of Gdansk is one of eight Polish airports that Ryanair, Europe’s biggest low-cost carrier, will be serving by November.
