Financials go into free-fall

The ISEQ continued its decline yesterday, falling to a two-year low of 3953.48 points, a drop of 151.55 points.

The financials went into free-fall, mirroring that of banking stocks on the London market. Allied Irish Bank fell by 84c to 10.96 with 2.99m shares traded. Bank of Ireland lost 65c to 9.85. Shares in Bank of Ireland have fallen by 11% this week. Irish Life and Permanent slipped 51c to 12.62. More losses were incurred by Anglo Irish Bank, falling 51c to 5.49 and IFG down 5c to 1.45. Overall, the ISEQ financial index tumbled by 518.39 points to 7531.54.
