Visa spending soars 22%

SPENDING on Irish Visa cards soared 22% last year, the international payments giant said yesterday.

Visa Europe chief executive Hans van der Velde said in Dublin yesterday that overall spending by Irish holders of Visa cards topped €7 billion last year.

Total spending by Visa cardholders across Europe was more than €960bn, with over 10 billion transactions processed in 34 countries across the continent.
