Green electricity projects given the green light

WIND and biomass electricity generating projects, with the potential to cut oil imports by €45 million a year, were given the green light by Communications, Marine and Natural Resources Minister Noel Dempsey yesterday.

Minister Dempsey said the move will enable the construction of an additional 235 MWs of new green electricity generating plants.

This support flows from the “AER 6” competition and will assist a further thirty projects.
