€500,000 contract for cabling company

A KILKENNY-BASED engineering firm has won a €500,000 contract to supply a unique cabling system to a Swiss pharmaceutical company.

Dunreidy Engineering says it will provide its Hycon cable containment system to be installed in a plant being constructed by the Pharmadule Corporation.

Donal Dunne, the joint management director of Dunreidy Engineering, said the product is unique in that it contains cables in stainless steel, which is easy to clean, and blends in with process piping. Of vital importance to the pharmaceutical industry it can be cleaned without any problems, and is designed in such a way that no dust or contamination can occur. The product was developed by Dunriedy after five years research and development.

“We began design and development efforts in 1998 and have received excellent levels of support all along the way from Enterprise Ireland, particularly in relation to export marketing and the patent process,” Mr Dunne said. “It is impossible to assess the potential market for the product.”

He added that he hopes the contract will be the beginning of a continuous stream of orders and that the company are looking to expand into the United States, Asia and Europe.

Dunreidy Engineering was established in 1989 and employs around 100 people.
