THE EU’s finance ministers appear to be in no rush to select and back a single candidate for the top IMF job.

Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy conceded they may not agree a candidate when his colleagues discuss the issue at today's Ecofin meeting in Punchestown.

Instead he expects to confine himself to encouraging countries to declare if they wish to nominate a person.
