THE Government has been warned to resist the soft option of increasing taxes, either direct or indirect.

The Small Firms Association (SFA) said the Government must continue to rein in public expenditure to a level that can be sustained by tax revenues.

SFA director Pat Delaney said benchmarking payments must only be paid where verifiable improvements in efficiency, effectiveness and economy have been achieved.
