DESPITE European indices gaining ground, shares in Dublin managed to get themselves off to a sluggish start for the shortened week.

The ISEQ index was marginally lower at 4148.88, a fall of 6.27 points.

The financials had a mixed day. Bank of Ireland closed 2c higher at €10.55 while Allied Irish Bank gave up 2c to €13.30. Anglo Irish Bank eased 4c to €6.74 and Irish Life and Permanent gained 3c to €10.53. Elsewhere Elan added 6c while CRH eased 10c to €13.30.
