Eircom acquisition of Meteor cleared

EIRCOM has received clearance from the Competition Authority for its €420 million acquisition of mobile phone company Meteor.

The decision paves the way for the deal to be concluded immediately.

Eircom chief executive Philip Nolan said: “I am delighted we have now completed this strategically important transaction. It completes the reconstruction of the company, which has taken four years of dedicated hard work by the company’s management and employees.”
