FINANCIAL management giant Merrill Lynch is to create an extra 300 jobs in Dublin over the next four years bringing its Irish workforce to 700.

The selection of Dublin by Merrill Lynch as the hub for key support services in Europe is a major boost to the IDA's strategy to target high value jobs as major world companies are exporting jobs to high tech capable but cheap labour locations like India.

Yesterday, Tánaiste Mary Harney said Merrill Lynch, one of the world's leading financial management and advisory companies, is opening a second office in Dublin at Central Park, Leopardstown, after successful negotiations with IDA Ireland.
