Schroeder backs Chirac’s Yes call

GERMANChancellor Gerhard Schroeder lent his support to French President Jacques Chirac’s call for a Yes vote in France’s referendum next month on the new European Union constitution.

“The idea of a unified Europe comes from France,” Schroeder said in Paris after a joint meeting of the French and German Cabinets.
