US trade gap narrows to $51.6bn

The US trade gap unexpectedly narrowed in September to $51.6 billion as oil imports fell and exports of US goods and services rose to a record.

The deficit, still the third-largest ever, shrank 3.7% from $53.5 billion in August, the Commerce Department said in Washington.
