Gloom for motorists as petrol prices continue to soar

CRUDE oil prices for delivery in July rose 0.5% to $58.75 a barrel in New York as producers struggle to meet rising fuel consumption.

Prices are 52% higher than a year ago as trading in oil futures earlier skirted with a record $59.23.

AA spokesman, Conor Faughnan warned last night “things are bad and will get worse for the Irish motorist.”
