Elan drives market forward

THE Irish market rebounded for the first day in three with Elan's surge the main catalyst for the rise. The ISEQ was 9.09 points higher at 6226.36 on the closing bell.

The financial sector finished in the red, down 23.26 points overall. AIB continued it's positive run 5c stronger at €16.80 while rival Bank of Ireland fell 8c to €12.52. Anglo-Irish and Irish Life and Permanent both slipped, down 5c and 3c respectively.

Construction heavyweights closed in the black with CRH advancing 10c to €20.72 while Kingspan responded well to its AGM, 20c firmer at €9.30. Grafton managed a 4c gain on the day.
