Energia wins council contract

Energia said yesterday it had won a €1.2m contract from Cork County Council to supply “green” energy to almost 700 of the council’s sites, including libraries, fire stations, area offices and water pumping and treatment plants across the county.

Council energy manager Pat Farrell said the authority was committed to promoting sustainable development. “By choosing green power we are participating in the sustainable energy market and contributing to the removal of greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere” he said.
