EUROPE is in danger of becoming the least developed economy in the world, IBEC president Maurice Pratt warned yesterday.

Getting the business agenda back on track was essential, he said, if the European Union was to escape from the current recession and achieve its goal of being the world’s most competitive market by 2010.

He was speaking at the unveiling of business objectives compiled by the Irish and Dutch employer and business organisations for the EU next year when both governments will hold the presidency for six months.
