Factory orders rise at quick pace

UK factory orders rose at their quickest pace since April 1995 during the first quarter, the Confederation of British Industry said, suggesting manufacturers are recovering from their worst slump in a decade.

An index tracking new orders rose to 18 in April from 13 in January, the CBI said. A separate measure of orders for the month fell to minus 14 in April from minus 8 in March, according to the survey of 761 companies.
