Light day’s trading on Irish market

TRADING on the Irish market was extremely light yesterday, with several European markets closed for public holidays and the power cuts in the US making an impact.

The ISEQ index finished 13.12 points higher at 4419.06.

Pharmaceutical firm Elan Corporation was unchanged at 4.22, following the news that the company has received a further extension of the deadline for filing its annual report with the SEC. Elsewhere, continued investor interest saw two stocks close at new 52-week highs, as Paddy Power gained 15c to 6.55 and Glanbia added 5c to 1.92. Other significant movers included Abbey, up 30c to 6.00, while Ryanair slipped 7c to 6.08.
