Public pay ‘threatens stability of social pact’

PAYMENT of benchmarking next year could put the social partnership under severe strain, the Economic and Social Research Institute has warned.

Editor of the ESRI quarterly commentary Danny McCoy said at a briefing that

“perceptions of quite dramatic differences over public and private sector pay” could cause a major rift.
