Trophy hunting Trump: A sheep shot

The idea of trophy hunting, once almost a rite of passage for young men of a certain ilk, is at best anachronistic.
The idea of trophy hunting for an endangered species is now well beyond anything considered acceptable in today’s ever-more environmentally aware world.
The idea of trophy hunting an endangered animal and retrospectively securing an extremely scarce — but obligatory — permit through your father’s influence seems close enough to moral and political
corruption.
Yet, that is what Donald Trump Jr has been accused of.
Donald Jr killed an endangered sheep in Mongolia, with a special permit issued after meeting the country’s president.
The target animal, an Argali sheep, is considered a national treasure in Mongolia.
That Trump shot the animal in the dark — illegal in most countries — using laser sights will abhor even traditional large-game hunters.
It adds the charge of field craft ineptitude to one of selfish ignorance.
To paraphrase Oscar Wilde: “The unspeakable in pursuit of the endangered.”
How very revealing.
