Man United manager requested club donate his agent’s fee, and matched it.

Man United's new boss, Louis van Gaal, has given more than half a million quid to charity and asked the club to do the same.

Van Gaal doesn’t use an agent and negotiated his contract with the English club himself.

Given a deal reportedly worth £12m and an average agent’s fee of 5%, this saved the club somewhere in the region of £600k.

According to a report in today’s Irish Sun the Dutchman did not want the club to profit. Instead he asked them to donate an equivalent amount to charity and then matched that donation.

The total amount is believed to be more than £1m.

A very decent gesture from the manager nicknamed “The Iron Tulip”.
