Rangers give trial to Lebanon captain
Rangers have handed Lebanon captain Faisal Antar the chance to win a dream move to Britain.
The Olympic Beirut defender has already begun a week-long trial at the Ibrox club’s Murray Park complex.
His brother Roda has been a hit in the Bundesliga with SC Freiburg and his agent Toni Preuss claims Faisal is also attracting attention from German clubs.
But Preuss – who also represents Rangers goalkeeper Stefan Klos – insists he would prefer a switch to Britain and hopes to impress Ibrox boss Alex McLeish.
He told the Daily Record: “Faisal has been in Glasgow for two days now and he will remain there until Friday.
“His brother Roda is an excellent player in the Bundesliga – he is a midfielder but he is Freiburg’s top scorer.
“Because Roda has done so well in Germany there is a lot of interest in Faisal from Bundesliga clubs.
“I don’t know what will happen but I have given Alex McLeish the first chance to look at him and decide if he is a valuable player. I know there are top clubs in Germany who want him but he would prefer to play in Britain and this is the reason I have done this favour for Rangers.”
Preuss also claims several clubs in England are keen to sign Klos – who was a target of Borussia Moenchengladbach boss Dick Advocaat – but insists the Rangers captain is happy to end his career with the Ibrox side.
