Tornado blows Moulin rivals away
Nebraska Tornado produced an impressive burst of speed to land in the Netjets Prix du Moulin at Longchamp today.
Richard Hughes had the Andre Fabre-trained filly in second place right from the start as Japanese hope Lohengrin cut out the running at only a steady pace.
As the field turned for home the leader increased the tempo but Hughes had the move covered and as soon as he gave the French Oaks winner a backhander the response was immediate as she strode ahead to take the Group One prize in some style.
Lohengrin kept on to take second ahead of Bright Sky with James Fanshawe’s Soviet Song coming from way back to finish a gallant fourth.
Richard Hannon’s Reel Buddy flattered briefly in the straight, while Sagitta 2000 Guineas winner Refuse To Bend ran too freely for his own good and soon faded out of contention.
