Singer/songwriter Mic Christopher dies

Popular Irish singer/songwriter Mic Christopher died yesterday in a Dutch hospital after suffering a fall 10 days ago and slipping into a coma.

Mr Christopher was supporting the Waterboys on their European tour when the accident occurred.

He was a promising musical talent who consistently sold out shows all over the country and he often teamed up with best friend Glen Hansard of the Frames.

On Wednesday night a benefit concert was held in Dublin's Vicar Street to raise money for his family.

The best of Irish musical talent turned up to combine their best wishes for Mic in what turned out to be an emotional farewell.

Mic had only time to release one EP - Heyday - and was working on his debut album when the accident occurred.
