Bank of America vice president killed in Times Square stabbing

A Bank of America vice president was killed in a stabbing attack in Times Square in New York on Monday.

Erin Piacenti, a vice president of business selection and conflicts at the bank, died in hospital from injuries sustained in the stabbing, according to a Bloomberg News report, which first reported her death.

“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague. She was a valued teammate who will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to her family and all of her loved ones,” the US banking giant said in an emailed statement to Reuters.

Two people stabbed in Times Square 

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said at a press briefing on Monday that a woman carrying multiple knives had stabbed two people in Times Square before police used a Taser and fired their weapons.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said the attack appeared to be random and unprovoked.

She said officers fired their weapons after Tasers failed to stop the woman from advancing towards them with knives.
