Thirty-nine people have been killed and 122 have been injured after a a high-speed train derailed and collided with an oncoming one in southern Spain in one of the worst railway accidents in Europe in the past 80 years.

A high-speed train from Malaga to Madrid derailed and smashed into another oncoming train on Sunday, pushing the second train off the tracks and down an embankment.
