Indian officials say troops exchanged fire with Pakistani soldiers in Kashmir

Indian officials say its army had a brief exchange of fire with Pakistani soldiers along the highly militarised border in the Himalayan region of Kashmir.

The clashes came as the nuclear-armed rivals ramped up tit-for-tat diplomatic moves following a fatal attack on tourists in the disputed area.
