What to know about the Kremlin’s revised nuclear policy

Russian President Vladimir Putin has formally lowered the threshold for Russia’s use of its nuclear weapons in a revamped version of the country’s nuclear doctrine.

The changes to the Basic Principles of State Policy on Nuclear Deterrence were signed by Putin on Tuesday in a move that follows US President Joe Biden’s decision to let Ukraine strike targets inside Russian territory with American-supplied longer-range missiles.
