Miyazaki Airport in southwest Japan was closed on October 2 after a WWII-era U.S. bomb exploded near the runway, creating a large crater and canceling nearly 90 flights. No injuries were reported. The bomb, likely from a wartime air raid, had been buried beneath the surface.
