A Russian military transport plane carrying 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war, six crew and three others has crashed in Russia’s Belgorod region near Ukraine, the Kremlin said.

It was not immediately clear what caused the crash, which took place at around 11am local time (8am Irish time). It is not known if anyone survived.
