Major wildfires burn in Greece and Tenerife

Firefighters have battled through the night to try to bring under control the worst wildfire in decades on Tenerife (AP)

Major wildfires are burning in Greece and on Tenerife, one of Spain’s Canary Islands off the north-west coast of Africa.

Hot, dry and windy conditions are hampering the efforts of hundreds of firefighters battling the blazes, two of which have been burning for several days.
