Israeli leader warns Hezbollah during visit to border
An Israeli Navy vessel anchored in the Mediterranean Sea is seen from the Rosh Hanikra border crossing between Israel and Lebanon in northern Israel, July 3, 2022. The Israeli prime minister warned Lebanon on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, that any escalation on its northern border would be met with a harsh military response a day after the Israeli military said it intercepted a drone that crossed from Lebanese territory (Ariel Schalit/AP/PA)

Israel’s new prime minister paid an unannounced visit to the border with Lebanon on Tuesday, threatening to unleash a harsh military response to what he described as ā€œunacceptableā€ aggression by the Lebanese militant Hezbollah group.

The visit came at a time of heightened tensions with Hezbollah, the heavily armed group that fought Israel during a month-long war in 2006.
