Russian shelling at Europe's largest nuclear power plant led the US Department of Energy to activate its nuclear incident response team as a precaution

A fire at the site of Europe's biggest nuclear plant, ignited by Russian shelling, has been extinguished, Ukrainian authorities have said.

However, Russian forces have now taken control of the Zaporizhzhia plant in the city of Enerhodar.
