China vows no concessions on Taiwan after Biden comments

China said there was “no room” for compromise or concessions over the issue of Taiwan, following a comment by US president Joe Biden that America was committed to defending the island if it was attacked.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin reasserted China’s longstanding claim that the island was its territory at a daily briefing after Mr Biden made his comment on Thursday at a forum hosted by CNN.
