Fears have been raised that unaccompanied child migrants arriving at the UK port town of Dover will be “detained” at a controversial facility after Kent County Council announced it cannot take in any more.

Large numbers of migrant children travelling to the UK onboard small boats has led to a repeat of the “unthinkable” situation where the council says its resources are “significantly overwhelmed”.
