Mr Johnson is preparing to be grilled by MPs today as he battles allegations over the funding of refurbishments to his Downing Street flat and remarks over coronavirus lockdowns.

A formal investigation has been launched into Boris Johnson's refurbishment of his Downing Street flat.

The UK’s Electoral Commission said it will launch an investigation, saying it was “satisfied that there are reasonable grounds to suspect that an offence or offences may have occurred.”
