New 3D map of Milky Way ‘could help shed light on galaxy’s origin and future’

Astronomers have produced a new 3D map of the Milky Way made up of nearly two billion stars.

They believe the cosmic atlas could help shed light on how the galaxy came into existence and answer crucial questions about its future.
