It is “unlikely” a coronavirus vaccine will stop the disease completely, the UK government’s chief scientific adviser has said.

Giving evidence to the joint Commons and Lords National Security Strategy Committee, Patrick Vallance said that only one disease – smallpox – had ever been completely eradicated.
