French president to visit Beirut as world rallies around Lebanon

Many nations have rallied around Lebanon as it continues to deal with the aftermath of the huge explosion in Beirut that killed at least 100 and injured thousands.

Reflecting both the gravity of the disaster and France’s special relationship with its former protectorate, President Emmanuel Macron was due to visit Lebanon on Thursday.
